Jonah Pt. 12 Who Are Your Assyrians?
As we continue our study in Jonah Chapter 2, we confront one of the most challenging questions in this story: Who are your Assyrians?
Jonah was called to preach repentance to Nineveh—the capital of Israel’s brutal enemies. But he refused. Why? Because he couldn’t imagine God showing mercy to people he hated.
This passage forces us to examine our own hearts:
- Who do we struggle to love?
- Who do we secretly (or openly) believe "deserves" judgment rather than grace?
- Where has tribalism or prejudice hardened our hearts?
Jonah’s story reveals a profound truth: God’s mercy extends further than we want it to. He calls us not just to receive grace, but to share it—especially with those we’d rather exclude.
📖 Key Themes:
- God’s Mercy for "Enemies"
- Overcoming Tribal Thinking
- The Cost of Obedience
Reflection Question: Who are the "Assyrians" in your life—the people you struggle to see as recipients of God’s love? Join the conversation in the comments below.
