Grow In Faith

Gentle Correction & Guarding Against Pride Galatians Pt. 30

Christ Church IL Season 12 Episode 30

In this final stretch of our Galatians study, Paul gets intensely practical about how we live out our faith in community. One of the hardest—yet most necessary—parts of Christian relationships is gentle correction: helping one another see blind spots and grow in holiness.

But Paul warns us to approach this carefully. There are two dangerous extremes:
1️⃣ Self-righteous judgment – Acting like the "morality police" with a critical spirit
2️⃣ Silent indifference – Avoiding hard conversations while others drift into harm

True biblical correction comes from humility, recognizing we all need grace. Just as we invest in coaches for sports or music, shouldn’t we value spiritual growth enough to welcome loving accountability?

Key Takeaways:

  • Why we need faithful friends to point out blind spots
  • How to correct others without pride ("Watch yourself")
  • The difference between judgment and restoration
  • Practical wisdom from AA’s model of humility

This passage challenges us: Are we willing to give and receive correction with grace? If you’ve experienced the gift of loving accountability, share in the comments how it helped you grow!
